We ventured out into Messina, Italy on a bright beautiful morning to take in the sights of this once thriving port city, situated at the tip of the island of Sicily. Our first activity was touring the beautiful Bell Tower and and the famous Messina Cathedral. The Cathedral was more than 1000 years old and was rebuilt 3 times due to earthquakes and war. We continued our tour of the former war-torn city and came across an empty soccer field. A game of impromptu soccer quickly ensued, and it was great to see many of students play "football" in Europe. To top of the day, we ate world famous Sicilian pizza a local pizzeria. The pizza was slightly different than Bruno's in Yellowknife, but most students really like it.
